Hi. I'm Phyllis Smith, Founder/CEO of Rejuvecise. I'm a certifed Health Coach (ACE) and Yoga Instructor, RYT who has always had a passion for fitness and health. But here's the thing. I also hate routines and get bored easily. So, when it comes to physical activity, I am a jack of all trades. As long as I'm in motion, I'm happy.

 

But about 15 years ago, it was Yoga that brought it all to a whole new level for me. The Yoga practice connecting mind and body created a deeper awareness of myself, and filled me with a sense of joy from the inside-out. 

 

Over the course of my life I have enjoyed a variety of activities, which was mostly dependent on age, time, convenience and geography. I've played tennis, racquetall, volleyball, working out at the gym, walking, running, horsebackriding, golf, hiking, biking and pretty much anything that connects me with nature.

 

But none of that would be complete without my Yoga practice. Every activity I do incorporates a Yoga component, including stretching, strenthening, balance and most importantly connecting all movement with the breath. And no matter what little time I have at the end of the activity, I include a quiet meditation to help reset my mind, body and spirit for the rest of the day. That last part is what puts the smile on my face and keeps me energized to keep on going (yes, like the Energizer bunny). It is this holistic approach to physical activity that I share with you.

For me, health and wellness is not something I take lightly. I might be one of the lucky ones who enjoys moving, but also my DNA requires it. Let's face it, I've got bad genes. Generations of heart disease have put one too many of my relatives underground way too early in their lives. And frighteningly, my wonderful parents are only alive today thanks to modern medicine.

 

Although not everyone suffers the misfortune of bad genetics like me, EVERYONE is susceptible to dis-ease due to bad health habits. Heart disease, diabetes, cancer are all just a few examples of what can happen if you don't treat yourself like you were the rarest gem on earth. Because whether you like it or not, there's only one of you. You are, as they say, priceless.
